“If I’m in a good mood, everyone around me will be in a good mood, and there will be happiness everywhere.“
Back then I was a tomboy, and when I got my license at 17, I was really into cars. My first car was a Honda Accord and it kept making weird noises every time I would brake. It was so embarrassing, but it motivated me to work harder so that I could buy my own car. My dad wasn’t going to buy it for me. Then during college, I went through a really tough time when I had to switch majors and thought I was going to drop out. I didn’t know what to do with my life. I had no motivation and stopped hanging out with friends. It’s weird, but Instagram actually made me find who I really am and by surrounding myself with positive people helped.”
Tina Liu, a Philadelphia native who crushes on ice cream, sports, and nail art started her instagram account @tinaeats_ only about a year and a half ago, as a result of her siblings teasing her for not having one. She is the oldest child of three, which automatically makes her the go-to person for her parents who are not fluent in english. In college, she balanced studying for medical school while helping out at her parents’ restaurant. However, since there was less time to dedicate to her studies, she wasn’t able to finish medical school as planned.
Stuck with no direction, she did what some would do in her situation, pick the easiest major and see where it will go. Luckily, by switching her major to marketing, she was put into a co-op program at Drexel University for Johnson and Johnson where she eventually landed a job as a translator. This allowed her to work remotely and have flexibility to be able to help her parents, while enjoying all the perks of being a food influencer.
Life in philly, was different. I was in a long term relationship, I wore hoop earrings, listening to rap and hip hop. My parents didn’t like it. Then after college I completely changed, because I was surrounded by different cultures of people.”
With most of her posts consisting of ice cream, cafes and lifestyle shots, Tina says that if she could do instagram full time, she would. As of this moment, she is happy and loving life as a single, independent woman who finally knows what she wants – ice cream.
